About Nietzsche: Going out of mind
Me, at the Nietzsche-Haus in Sils Maria, Switzerland, 2020.
The Indian mystic Osho has discussed a favorite German philosopher of me, Friedrich Nietzsche. Recognizing him as one of the greatest intellects of the western world, Osho commented on his famous “god is dead” statement:
“It was a tremendously powerful symbol to declare that God is dead. It was a recognition that we have been worshipping a lie.”
On another occasion Osho declares:
“Don’t look for God in the sky, look within your own body. You will become aware of the whole mystery of life.”
This view is essential and also found in ancient Hebrew, where the word God stands for “that which is.", “G” stands for “that,” “O” for “which,” and “D” for “is” – that which is. This means god is not a person or entity separate from us, god simply indicates a presence. And the presence is everywhere, the cosmos is synonymous with god. To be is to be in god - there is no other way.
To continue, the etymology of religion is “to reconnect”, so the purpose of religion is to reconnect ourselves to the dormant spirit within each of us.
Nietzsche remained a thinker all his life and even though he had an invaluable amount of deep thoughts, he went insane because he couldn’t go out of his mind. If you go out of your mind and into your body via meditation, you quiet the mind and can become aware of the spirit within so you can grow spiritually.
